The Pattern of Urban Planning for the Risk of Mae Chan Fault Line to Support the Earthquake Disaster.

Abstract

An earthquake, one of the most destructive natural phenomena, is unpredictable occurrence. Therefore, a response earthquake plan is important in order to reduce massive damage and deaths. The risky area of earthquake located on Mae Chan fault line is selected to study. This research is conducted base on characteristics of community planning, buildings and types of buildings to allocate the safety areas for earthquake victims. Moreover, the evacuation routes and directions to safety areas are also obtained.

               The results indicated that there are 1,230 buildings in the community. Most of land is used for residential purposes. It also found that this area possibly faces a chance of experiencing a magnitude 6.0 – 6.9 earthquake. In response to earthquake, this research therefore proposes ten safety areas and evacuation routes. These evacuation routes are connected to other safety community and can be easily accessed for rescuers.
