Abstract

            This research aimed to survey farmers' production practices, problems, and related factors, and to propose guidelines for the development of Nang Lae pineapple production standards. A survey was conducted among thirty farmers, and focus group discussions were held among twelve stakeholders. The results were analyzed as percentage, mean and    standard deviation and content analysis from the focus group discussions.  The results showed that although most farmers' production practices on standards, some problems affected the product's quality and safety. There were need to improve soil condition-based fertilization, the management of hazardous agricultural materials, personal hygiene, and data record-keeping. The proposed development guidelines for standardized Nang Lae production practices were as follows: the official registration of pineapple farmers in Nang Lae, provision support for farmers to follow production standards, education and internal assessment on agricultural practice groups, the application for GAP standard and GI certification, as well as the marketing of Nang Lae pineapple products. The government, local administration, and all stakeholders should cooperate to increase the quality and economic prospects of Nang Lae pineapple.
