“Marsch Siamese” (1890) History and Analysis

The purpose of this academic article is to study historical of Marsch Siamese including with analysis section in music and roles in society. The study result shows that: Hans Neil Hass was composed Marsch Siamese dedicated to Chao Phraya Wongsanuprapat in 1890 while he lived at Denmark for studied in military academy. In western tradition, Marsch Siamese is the song that composed for dedicated to a person. That can present the relationship and respect between each other. In the part of analysis, this song was composed on rondo form (A - B - A - C - A). There is an interesting creation of colors from various instruments. It’s demonstrated advance abilities of the composer. Nowadays, Marsch Siamese song is considering contextualize as a cultural ambassador that is brought to perform in various agendas related to Thailand. In other word, the song is still be using till today since it was composed 130 years ago, and is considering to be a song that represent the longstanding relationship between Siam and Denmark.
