Dealing with Uncertainty of Persons in Music Industry: A Case Study of Problems during COVID-19 Pandemic in Thailand

Abstract

People who have careers in the music business have affected from the pandemic of COVID-19 because of the Emergency Decree of the Thai Government to delay the outbreak of the Coronavirus 2019 by setting the regulation of prohibitions or limitations the movement of large numbers of people across the various areas since March 2020 and the tendency that this occupation will be released to do business after others. From the primary survey with Google form to the persons who work in the music business in Thailand found that they have affected by this crisis which loses their earning around 50%. Although the persons who are the musicians or singers have got the most effects, the music teachers have got little affected by the crisis. They adapted themselves by using their savings and find other occupations to making their living. 50% of them can’t stand for this situation anymore. This article, the author proposes the methods that the international artists did for handling the crisis and also the guideline for preparing the persons in the music business for coping with the uncertainty situation in the future with the I-ADAPT theory.
