Pridi Market Place Activity and the Thammasat University Library of Life Concept

Abstract

Pridi Banomyong Library, as an academic hub, supports teaching, learning, research, and knowledge discovery for students, instructors, staff and the general public. In addition to a range of information resources, the library also provides space for organizing activities that align with the vision of a Library of Life. This concept positions the library as a place for holistic development, fostering lifelong learning, innovation, research, and future skills for the Thammasat community and wider society.

One such activity, Pridi Market Place, was designed to create a library space for university staff and students to showcase and sell products and goods. This generates income and presents a learning environment where participants exchange entrepreneurial knowledge and experience through small-scale business operations.

To align with library vision and strategic goals, the activity was developed to diversify learning-support programs and promote future skills among users and staff. The initiative emphasized accuracy, convenience, and practical outcomes. In post-activity evaluations, vendors expressed the highest levels of satisfaction in every aspect, including event publicity, date and time appropriateness, venue, staff coordination, and overall experience. Participants remarked that the event helped to generate income for Thammasat community members and expanded market reach for their products. Staff and students earned supplementary income by participating in the event.
