“THAMMANUKUL” : THAI FIDDLES CREATION FROM CULTURAL CAPITAL

Abstract

“Thammanukul” the brand of Thai fiddles under the creative idea and concept of Teerapan Thammanukul, the fiddle player who has knowledge and experiences in Thai traditional music. He also has wisdom to make Saw Duang, Saw U, and Saw Sam Sai which he collected from the Thai musical resources. This affected on the developing “Thai fiddles pattern” that still nurture the traditional culture value as “authentic proportion” and “Thai authentics sound” by created “Form” to increase value and respond the customer demand such as musicians, teachers, instructors and Thai traditional musical students who looking for the quality musical instruments. These created the balance between cultural value and economic value for creating Thai fiddles according to Teerapan Thammanukul’s idea. This article pointed out the merging of cultural capital and artisan wisdom of Teerapan Thammanukul to apply in Thai fiddles creation.
