THE COMPARISON OF SERVICE WAITING TIME PRE AND DURING COVID-19 SITUATION: THE CASE STUDY OF THE OPHTHALMIC DEPARTMENT OF METTA PRACHARAK HOSPITAL (WAT RAI KHING)

Abstract

    At present, there are many people receiving treatments for eye diseases. Since the waiting period represents the quality of the service system, it leads to the purpose of this study which is to analyze and compare the duration of outpatient services at the ophthalmology department of Metta Pracharak Hospital (Wat Rai Khing) before the COVID-19 epidemic and during the COVID-19 outbreak, a total of 400 patients at each stage of the procedure were sampled by the Taro Yamane method. The confidence of the tool is greater than 0.70. Descriptive statistics used in this study were mean and independent statistical tests. A study found that the service systems during COVID-19 test results differed in the waiting time in each service process. Divided by type of patient, it was found that there was a difference between the waiting time in the process of receiving the queue card and the process of taking the history during the Covid-19 epidemic. The mean waiting time during COVID-19 was 215.8 minutes, a decrease compared to the pre-COVID-19 period of 225.5 minutes. The knowledge gained from this research can be used as a guideline to find the suitability of the service system and optimize it as much as possible.
