การวิจัยเรื่องการวิเคราะห์และนำเสนอข้อมูลเชิงภาพการตั้งถิ่นฐานของกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ในล้านนา มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) วิเคราะห์และจัดกลุ่มการตั้งถิ่นฐานของกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ในล้านนา และ 2) นำเสนอข้อมูลเชิงภาพของการตั้งถิ่นฐานของกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ในล้านนา โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยการวิจัยและการพัฒนา เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บข้อมูล คือ แบบวิเคราะห์การตั้งถิ่นฐานของกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ในล้านนา กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ ทรัพยากรสารสนเทศที่มีเนื้อหาด้านการตั้งถิ่นฐานของกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ในล้านนา จำนวน 311 รายการ จากแหล่งสารสนเทศ จำนวน 17 แห่ง ผลการวิจัย พบว่า กลุ่มความรู้การตั้งถิ่นฐานของกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ในล้านนามี จำนวน 17 หมวด 65 หมวดย่อย 175 หมู่ย่อยที่ 1 จำนวน 352 หมู่ย่อย และหมู่ย่อยที่ 2 จำนวน 59 หมู่ย่อย ด้านการนำเสนอข้อมูลเชิงภาพ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการพัฒนา คือ โปรแกรม MapHub การแสดงผลของเว็บไซต์ มี 3 ส่วน 1) แสดงผลตามกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ในล้านนา ทั้ง 25 กลุ่ม 2) แสดงผลการแบ่งยุคสมัยล้านนา 7 ยุค และ 3) กลุ่มความรู้การตั้งถิ่นฐานของกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์ในล้านนา 17 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ 1) การตั้งถิ่นฐาน 2) อาชีพ 3) ภาษา 4) การแต่งกาย 5) ที่อยู่อาศัย 6) ครอบครัว 7) ความเชื่อ 8) ศาสนา 9) ความเป็นอยู่และประเพณี 10) พิธีทางศาสนาและพิธีกรรม 11) การรักษาโรค 12) อาหาร 13) การปกครอง 14) การศึกษา 15) ลักษณะนิสัย 16) ดนตรี และ 17) การละเล่น
